People: 170 crore, approximately, will be India’s population, making it the most populous country in the world for two decades. Two states, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, would have shrinking population; six other states would have stablised.

Prosperity: $16,000 could be the per capita income, which is nearly 9 times the current value (in 2016 dollars). China’s will be double and US’ 5 times India’s. India will be the third largest economy with over $28 trillion GDP.

Religion: 130 crore is the likely number of Hindus, size of entire population today. Muslims could be nearing 30 crore. Likely composition–Hindus 76%, Muslims 18%, Christians 2.2%, Others 2.7%.

Language: 62% is the likely share of English medium in elementary school education in India, up from 19% today. Share of English medium in elementary school enrolment rose sharply from 13% in 2012-13 to 19% in 2016-17.

Demography: For every senior citizen (65+) there would be 6 Indians in the age group of 15-64 in 2047, that’s considerably older demography than today’s.
